ACVE Host Projects

ACVE currently collaborates with 13 project partners throughout New Zealand, from Christchurch in the South Island up to Great Barrier Island, 100km off the coast of Auckland. When you volunteer in New Zealand, you will have the opportunity to work on one of the following host projects:

Youth & Adventure camps
We work with a number of youth and adventure camps across New Zealand. These camps offer children and young people the opportunity to build self-confidence, self-esteem and learn new skills whilst living in a challenging and beautiful outdoors environment.

Finlay Park Adventure Camp
Finlay Park is an adventure camp located on the edge of Lake Karapiro running children’s holiday camps and other residential training camps.

El Rancho 
El Rancho facilitates adventurous school and community camps. Volunteers are trained through the El Rancho outdoor activities instructor programme.

Lakes Ranch
Lakes Ranch offers school camps, sports training, outdoor recreation / education, tenting and church group programmes. Famous for the Tough Guy and Girl Challenge, Lakes Ranch also runs horse trekking camps.

Lake Taupo Christian Camp
Lake Taupo Christian Camp Trust’s primary purpose is to benefit the young people of New Zealand physically, socially, and spiritually. They provide safe and stimulating outdoor experiences for people of all ages, with the aim of enhancing self-esteem, developing communication, co-operation and group skills and promoting spiritual awareness.

Living Springs Trust
Living Springs is a beautiful camp and conference running a wide range of outdoor camps and programmes. An interest in outdoor pursuits would be an advantage as would interest and ability in graphics and design, conservation, administration as well as cooking, culinary and hospitality skills.

Education
Working as a teacher aide in a New Zealand school is a great way to share your culture, language and life skills with young kiwis.

Wanganui Girls College 
Ad Astra Hostel provides a home-away-from-home environment, assisting in the education and social development of all boarders. Volunteers will live in the hostel and assist with hostel activities, sport and cultural activities. There are opportunities to become involved with college activities and work in the college Learning & Support Centre.

Amuri Area School 
Living as a member of a rural school community in the South Island enables you to really participate in the education and sporting and cultural activities of the students. A love of the outdoors and sports is required for this teaching role.

Hohepa Home School 
Hohepa's vision is to enable people with intellectual disabilities to develop to their fullest potential and have quality of life in a holistic caring environment. The vocational and personal development of each individual with special needs is a prime focus with curative education and social therapy principles fundamental to our work. Teaching at Hohepa School is based upon the principles of Rudolf Steiner.

Community
Mount Tabor Trust
Mount Tabor provides a quality intentional community lifestyle for intellectually disabled adults within the wider community. Seeking always to nurture and reveal their particular gifts, volunteers will be involved with all aspects of creative, social and vocational living including, sports, work, educational courses, art and music.

St Columbas Church
You will be working with a range of youth and childrens’ programmes within the local community. These include Mainly Music for pre-schoolers, before and after school care with primary aged children (5-11 years), a school holiday programme, youth band, working with young adults and Operation Friendship which involves visiting students and organising events for the local campus.

Orama Christian Trust
Orama is a service oriented Registered Charitable Trust that cares deeply for people and through its Christian motivation and unique setting, facilities and personal development programmes seeks to positively influence people as they receive rest, restoration, challenge and training

Cholmondeley Childrens Home
Cholmondeley's core service is the provision of emergency and planned short term respite care for children aged 3-12, whose families are experiencing significant stress or difficulties. These issues include financial stress, mental health issues, severe illness, substance abuse and addiction, even death of one parent/guardian. The average stay for a child is from several days to 2 weeks, including weekends.

Conservation
Conservation projects are an opportunity to help create, preserve and restore New Zealand’s natural environment.

Mclarens Falls Park
Mclarens Falls Park is 190 hectares of pastoral and horticultural land set alongside Lake Mclaren. As an Assistant Ranger, you will be working with Park Rangers in a wide variety of outdoor tasks to help maintain, improve and conserve a beautiful and significant New Zealand park.

Lammers Trust Farm
An opportunity to learn about New Zealand sustainable farming practices living with a farming family on a large and busy dairy farm in the Bay of Islands. To make the most of this opportunity volunteers should be physically fit, love the outdoors and be willing to participate in all aspects of farm life.
